David
Black, an internationally recognized sculptor, has won numerous prizes for
a long career in public art. Monumental Windpoint won 1st prize and
purchase, Japan's 4th International Competition 1985. 150' Flyover
won a major national open competition for a Wright Brothers memorial, Dayton,
1996, - now awarded a special citation by The Illinois Engineers' Assoc.
24 major public sculpture projects have been completed in Germany and Japan, as
well as the USA. Born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, he currently lives in Columbus as Professor Emeritus, Ohio State University. He received his BA, cum Laude, Wesleyan University, Connecticut; MA Indiana University. Many honors, grants: Fulbright to Florence, Italy; DAAD two-year German government residency in Berlin; US National Endowment for the Arts - Individual Award; Ohio House of Representatives "Career Recognition". |
